Explorers travel from around the world to dive the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Shops for hundreds of miles bring their students to San Carlos beach for their scuba training, but Monterey Bay Scuba is already here! Located on the historic Cannery Row, we offer a full service facility.
As the only full service Dive Shop and Dive Charter in Northern California, we pride ourselves on taking new and seasoned divers out to experience the underwater world of Monterey. We don’t just want to help you increase your skills in scuba, we also want to help you make memories to last a lifetime. We take customer service very seriously and will do everything in our power to make your experience the best it can be.
Come aboard the California Explorer on Monterey Bay! The only dive shop with a boat! Explore the beauty of the world-famous Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary! The bio-diversity in Monterey Bay is immense. During our guided dive charters, we explore many dive sites that include lush Kelp Forests, Shale Reefs and Granite Reef Pinnacles. Known for our many species of Rockfish, Nudibranchs, Sea Stars and playful Sea Lions, there is a lot to see and experience in Monterey Bay!
We run charters Thursday through Sunday at 7:00am and 11:30am. We also are available for private charters any day.
SCUBA DIVING GEAR RENTALSWe provide rentals through Monterey Bay Scuba located at Breakwater beach in Monterey. Monterey Bay Scuba offers gear rental for scuba and snorkeling, including tanks, weights, wetsuits, drysuits, scuba gear, and more.
Monterey Bay Scuba prides itself in having high quality, properly maintained equipment suitable for your next dive. Monterey Bay Scuba adheres to the DAN recommendations for gear disinfecting, ensuring that all rental gear goes through a bleach soak cycle after every rental.

Get your scuba diving certification with our Open Water Diver course in just three days! The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world's most popular and widely recognized scuba course. Millions of people have learned to scuba dive and gone on to discover the wonders of the aquatic world through this course. In the Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD) and an air cylinder.
Advanced Open Water
Advance your skills and level up in scuba!
This course can be taken after completing the Open Water Diver certification. It's titled Advanced Open Water Diver because it advances your diving knowledge and skills. That's what the Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about. You don't have to be 'advanced' to take it! It's designed to advance your diving, so you can start right after earning your Open Water Diver certification. The course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives. You try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of your Instructor. You log dives and develop capabilities as you find new ways to have fun scuba diving.
Drysuit Diving
Want to stay warm? Want to extend your scuba diving season? Then dive dry. A dry suit seals you off from the water and keeps you comfortable, even in surprisingly cold water. There is incredible diving in the world's cooler regions and in some areas, conditions are even better in colder months. Becoming a dry suit diver allows you to expand your boundaries and dive more places, more often.
If you decide to purchase a suit from us we will teach you the class for free!

Maximize your dive time! Imagine going on an incredible dive, getting back, and not having to deal with cleaning
your gear. Rent gear from us and we’ll take care of the clean up!
Interested in taking courses with us?
With other shops, you have to lug around sandy equipment in your car and travel between the shop and the dive
location but not here! The beach you’ll be doing your ocean dives from is just a walk across the parking lot. Get
geared up right here at the shop then walk right down to the water!
