The Enriched Air Diver course is the most popular specialty scuba course. Why? Because scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression time, especially on repetitive scuba dives. If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing, then don't hesitate to become an enriched air diver.
You'll learn why diving with air that has higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content gives you more bottom time, along with enriched air equipment considerations. During a practical session, you will:

Most modern scuba equipment and dive computers can be used with enriched air, but your instructor will let you know if your gear meets manufacturer recommendations and local requirements. However, scuba tanks must meet oxygen service standards and be dedicated for use with enriched air. You'll practice using oxygen analyzers and special cylinder decals. Your instructor will explain other equipment you may need to enjoy enriched air diving.
Note that the Enriched Air course does not require any dives.
Our Enriched Air (Nitrox) course can be scheduled Thursday through Sundays at 7 AM and must be booked ahead of time. You also have the option of joining a pool refresher in the morning and/or a couple boat dives at a discounted rate.
If you arrive 15 or more minutes late, you will need to reschedule (fees apply).
Please review the Diver Medical Questionnaire prior to your course as some students may be required to have a physician's approval before diving activities.

Dive shops for hundreds of miles bring their students to San Carlos beach for their scuba training, but Monterey Bay Scuba is already here! Monterey Bay Scuba is the only dive shop in California located right on the water. With other shops, you have to lug around sandy equipment in your car and travel between the shop and the dive location but not here! The beach you’ll be doing your ocean dives from is just a walk across the parking lot. Get geared up right here at the shop then walk right down to the water!
