Monterey Boat Dive Tours

Monterey Bay Dive Tours on the California Explorer!

Come aboard the California Explorer on Monterey Bay! The only dive shop with a boat! Explore the beauty of the world famous Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary!

The bio-diversity in Monterey Bay is immense. During our boat dive charters we explore many dive sites that include lush Kelp Forests, Shale Reefs and Granite Reef Pinnacles. Known for our many species of Rockfish, Nudibranchs, Sea Stars and playful Sea Lions, there is a lot to see and experience in Monterey Bay!

Our dive sites are chosen the morning of the dive tour and based on experience and the ocean conditions for the day.

  • Lunch is provided by Osteria Al Mare & located right next door to our shop, overlooking the harbor.

  • Pay for parking in the white spaces only. The yellow spaces are reserved for boat trailers or RVs. (Parking lot location: 32 Cannery Row, Monterey, CA 93940.)

  • The California Explorer is available for private Charter groups at $1000 per half day (2-Tanks each at a 6-person maximum).

Boat Charter Schedule:

  • 7:30 AM 2-Tank
    • 7:30AM - Arrive & check in at Monterey Bay Scuba. Inspect and try on all rental gear, if needed.
    • 8:00 AM - Board the dive boat with all your dive gear set-up, with a single tank and weights. Your 2nd tank will already be loaded on the boat.
    • 8:30 AM - The boat leaves the dock and will return at 11:30 AM (return time is approximate).
    • Lunch at Osteria Al Mare


  • 11:30 AM 2-Tank
    • 11:30 AM - Arrive & check in at Monterey Bay Scuba. Inspect and try on all rental gear, if needed.
    • 12:00 PM - Board the dive boat with all your dive gear set-up, with a single tank and weights. Your 2nd tank will already be loaded on the boat.
    • 12:30 PM - The boat leaves the dock and will return at 3:30 PM (return time is approximate).
    • Lunch at Osteria Al Mare

Included:

  • All dive boat charters include an in-water dive guide.
  • Lunch is provided after each charter.

Not Included:

  • Tanks & weights are not included unless added as a rental reservation or rental package.
  • Personal dive gear is not included but can be added when signing up.
  • Dive crew gratuities.
Terms & Conditions:
  • Bookings are available Saturday & Sunday at either 8 AM or 12 PM.
  • Booking's are only available at 12 PM on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
  • The dive charter does not operate on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
  • If you are the only person signed up for the tour the second dive will be a resort dive where you exit the water on the beach.
  • There are NO refunds, book carefully. You will receive a 100%. booking credit if cancelled more then 48hrs out. There is no credits/refunds for cancellations less then 48 hrs.
